Make something new
“Make a small house with a red roof.”
Describe its shape, colors and style, and ask AI to help build it.
YOUR FIRST MCP CONNECTION
Describe what you would like to make. With an MCP connection, an AI app can help you create inside COCO CHARA.
Available on WindowsSee how to get startedAn example conversation. Review a new creation before asking AI to finalize it.
01 · ABOUT MCP
MCP is a way for AI to connect to other apps. When connected to COCO CHARA, AI can look at your world and help create things based on your requests.
The conversation takes place in the AI app you connected. Use everyday language to describe what you want to make or change.
02 · IDEAS
Start with a small creation or one change at a time.
“Make a small house with a red roof.”
Describe its shape, colors and style, and ask AI to help build it.
“Make the roof a little brighter.”
Look at the result, then talk through changes to its colors and shape.
“Make a plane with a spinning propeller.”
Describe which parts should move and how, as well as what the creation should look like.
Available actions depend on the world mode and the part you are editing. Include the name or location of the creation or part you want to change.
03 · GET STARTED
Prepare COCO CHARA first, then follow the instructions for your AI app. You only need to set up one of the four.
From COCO CHARA’s main menu, open “AI Settings” and turn “Allow MCP Connections” ON.
Click the copy button beside “MCP Server Path.” This is the location of the connection program. Use the path shown in your app.
Choose your app’s guide below. You will enter the copied path in that app’s settings screen or configuration file.
Labels and locations may vary with your app’s language and updates.
CODEX
Set this up in the Windows desktop app.
Open “Settings” → “MCP servers” → “Add server.”
cococharaSTDIOSTDIO starts the connection program on your PC.
Save the server, select “Restart,” and check that cocochara is enabled in the server list.
Open a local task running on this PC. Type /mcp in the composer to inspect connections, then follow the connection check below.

CLAUDE DESKTOP
Use Chat in the installed desktop app.
From the app menu, open “Settings” → “Developer” → “Edit Config.” If a folder opens, right-click claude_desktop_config.json and choose “Open with” → “Notepad.”
You can also enter %APPDATA%\Claude in File Explorer’s address bar. “Edit Config” creates the file if needed.
If the file is empty or contains only {}, select and copy the entire example below, then paste it into the file open in Notepad. Otherwise, expand the instructions for an existing file.

{
"mcpServers": {
"cocochara": {
"command": "REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_MCP_SERVER_PATH"
}
}
}Keep your existing settings. Add the entry below inside the existing mcpServers braces, after the last server. Put a comma after that server’s closing }, then paste this entry. If mcpServers is empty, paste the entry inside its braces without a preceding comma. If cocochara already exists, update its command only. Do not add a second mcpServers block.

"cocochara": {
"command": "REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_MCP_SERVER_PATH"
}If there are other settings but no mcpServers entry, add "mcpServers": { … } inside the outermost braces, separated from the preceding setting by a comma. Save a copy of the original file before editing.
Next, replace the path in the file you are editing. Return to COCO CHARA’s AI Settings and copy “MCP Server Path” again. Back in claude_desktop_config.json, select only REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_MCP_SERVER_PATH and paste your path. Keep the surrounding double quotes.
Inside this JSON file, write every backslash \ twice as \\. For example, a copied path of C:\Games\COCO CHARA\mcp_server\cocochara_mcp.exe becomes "command": "C:\\Games\\COCO CHARA\\mcp_server\\cocochara_mcp.exe". This location is only an example; use your actual copied path.
Press Ctrl + S. Keep the name claude_desktop_config.json, with no .txt suffix.
Right-click Claude in the Windows notification area (under “∧” if hidden) and quit. Open Claude again from the Start menu.
In a new chat, open “+” → “Connectors” and look for cocochara. If missing, check “Developer” for connection errors. Continue with the connection check.
This local configuration works in desktop Chat; it is not available in the browser or Cowork.

LM STUDIO
Use LM Studio’s own chat with a model loaded on your PC.
If needed, download a model from “Discover.” Choose one that fits your PC’s memory and supports tool use.
Open “Chat,” select the downloaded model in the model loader at the top, and load it. Send a short greeting to check that it responds.
In the chat’s right settings sidebar, choose “Program” → “Install” → “Edit mcp.json.”
Select and copy the entire example below, then paste it into the empty mcp.json or replace {} in LM Studio’s editor. For an existing file, follow the expandable instructions to add cocochara.

Press Ctrl + S. Saving loads the configured servers.
Check cocochara in “Program” and enable it if disabled. Send the connection check below in the chat with your loaded model.
If asked to approve a tool call, check that it inspects the connection and allow it. If the model only replies without checking, review tool availability and the model’s tool-use support.

Close settings and open the world you want to work in. Keep COCO CHARA running.
Use COCO CHARA’s MCP tools to check the world and mode I have open. Do not change any creations yet.
If an approval prompt appears, review the action and allow it.
The connection works when the AI actually uses a COCO CHARA tool and returns information matching your current world or mode. A reply saying it can connect is not enough to verify the connection.
No. You can describe your creation in everyday language. You only need to set up the connection in your AI app before using it for the first time.
With MCP, you talk to an AI app outside COCO CHARA. For Gemini inside the game, see the In-game Chat AI guide.
MCP connections are available on Windows. The Android version cannot make a direct MCP connection.
For a new creation, review the preview and ask AI to finalize it when you are happy. Some actions, such as deleting blocks or changing colors, take effect directly. Be clear about what you want changed.
Check that COCO CHARA is running, MCP is enabled, and the displayed path was registered correctly. Run both apps as the same Windows user, then reconnect from your AI app.
